Lodging Details
The Fly Fish Guanaja Lodge is located on a private island off the north coast of the Honduras mainland in the middle of prime flats. A small, intimate operation, the Lodge will only accommodate a maximum of eight anglers per week. The Main Lodge is a comfortable house with two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The interior is custom mahogany and the beds are new and comfortable. The Lodge also features a guest cabin with two more bedrooms and a bathroom. The main deck of the Lodge is expansive, lined with hammocks, and overlooks the flats where bonefish and permit feed in the shallow waters. At times, you can cast from the deck to tailing fish, or harass your friends as they attempt to stalk fish on the shallow flats. There are also a number of shaded hammock spots throughout the small island where you can relax during a slack tide, waiting for the water to shift and the tails to show up. There is a large white sand beach on the key that feeds into a bonefish hole. With a group of four to six anglers, you will have the cay to yourselves.

Food and Beverages
The Lodge chefs have been trained by several culinary professionals flown in from the United States and the food served at the Lodge is the best in Guanaja. Using local delights such as lobster, shrimp, fresh fish, vegetables, and fruit, the chefs put together a fantastic and diverse menu. Local rum, beer, tequila, wine, and sodas are also included and provided in the all-inclusive cost of the package.

Typical Length of Stay
A standard package is seven (7) nights / six (6) fishing days (Saturday to Saturday.) Partial week packages are available with some restrictions. Please call Yellow Dog for details.

Non-Angling Activities and Options
For non-anglers, the Bay Islands offer a multitude of activities and attractions. Roatán, Guanaja, and Utila are rated among the world’s top dive destinations and are the perfect place for beginners or experienced divers and snorkelers. Other activities include sea kayaking, hiking, birding, island tours, jungle trips to the mainland, classes on local cooking, and more. There are several small settlements on Guanaja that can be explored and the main island offers trails and hiking opportunities, jungle waterfalls, and more. Even if you don’t dive, plan on at least snorkeling. Snorkeling in Guanaja is safe and you can swim along vibrant coral reefs for miles. There is extra snorkel gear at the Lodge, but it’s a good idea to bring at least a mask custom fit for you.

Internet / Communications
Wi-Fi is offered at the Lodge. Some cell phone providers may offer service on Guanaja. Check with your phone service provider before departing on your trip.

How To Get There
With daily flights flying from several major U.S. airport hubs directly to Roatán, traveling to Fly Fish Guanaja is very straightforward. Upon arrival in Roatan (RTB), you will be met by a FF Guanaja Representative that will help coordinate the transfer to Guanaja. There are local airlines that fly between the islands, but the most common route to Guanaja is the ferry. The ferry departs at 4pm so please arrive early enough to account for clearing customs and a short ride to the ferry dock. If an earlier arrival is necessary or preferred, the FF Guanaja Representative can help arrange for a taxi to some of the more popular tourist destinations on Roatan.

Arrival and Departure Details / Times
You can arrive and depart Fly Fish Guanaja on any day of the week with Saturdays being the best days for travel based on the local included transfers. On other days of the week, custom and not included transfers (additional charges) may be necessary. Departing flights from Roatan, should be booked after 12pm. Please call Yellow Dog to discuss flight itineraries.

Documents Required
A valid passport is required for all visitors to Honduras and must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the duration of your stay. Citizens of the U.S., the British Commonwealth, and Canada are NOT required to have Visas.

General Information
Guanaja is home to similar saltwater fly fishing scenarios as those found in other popular areas throughout Mexico and Belize. What makes Guanaja unique? When you’re at the Lodge, you’re usually the only one fishing on the entire island! Guanaja offers a diverse Caribbean flats fishery where the shallow flats are comprised of hard sand, turtle grass, and coral. Although anglers visiting Fly Fish Guanaja Lodge mainly hunt bonefish, permit, tarpon, and other species in different venues can be found as well. When fishing Guanaja, you can expect to wade fish about 65 percent of the time and fish out from a boat the other 35 percent. The Fly Fish Guanaja guides have been highly trained and are some of the best we have come across in this part of the Caribbean.

The bonefishing on Guanaja is productive and dependable. It is possible to find schools as well as larger single-digit and double-digit fish right in front of the Lodge. Guanaja also has several flats surrounding the island where smaller bonefish in schools of 10 to 200 can be found throughout the day. As far as the permit go, Guanaja is a destination where it is possible to see anywhere from 10 to 50 permit a day, oftentimes getting several shots at these difficult and elusive fish. Guanaja permit range from juveniles to full-blown giants of over 25 pounds. It is possible to find permit tailing on the flats of the South Keys (the Lodge is located on one of these keys), and also fish them in river mouths and in deeper water from a boat. Baby tarpon and snook are occasionally located and caught where the rivers meet the flats. Guanaja baby tarpon range from five to 40 pounds, and it is common (when they’re found) to sight cast to them on moving tides. It is also possible to find schools of snook, and while they are not found every day, a couple of dozen are landed over the course of each season.

Boats and Equipment 
Fly Fish Guanaja utilizes four fishing boats that were custom-built for fishing these waters. They are a flats boat/panga mix that allow guides and clients to comfortably navigate the waters of Guanaja while still being able to poll in less than a foot of water. The Lodge offers a selection of 7 to 12-weight rods and reels that can be used by clients at no extra cost, and the main room of the lodge features a fully-loaded and well-stocked fly tying table as well. Fly Fish Guanaja is run by experienced fly fishing guides who know how to teach casting, tying, and the finer elements of Caribbean flats fishing.

Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are completely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. All prices listed below are per person, based on double occupancy, and quoted in US dollars. Fly Fish Guanaja and Faraway Cayes (Guanaja – Bay Island, Honduras)
TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is due at the time of booking for all Fly Fish Guanaja and Faraway Cayes packages, and final payment if due 90 days prior to arrival. (Note that Faraway Cayes is operated by Fly Fish Guanaja.) For cancellations, all deposits and payments are non-refundable. Because of the lodge’s no refund and no credit policy, we highly recommend the purchase of trip cancellation insurance. In no event will Fly Fish Guanaja or the operators be responsible for any cancellation of services or operations due to inclement weather, any event of force majeure, airline delays, or any other reason beyond the control of the lodge. Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance for your trip. Fly Fish Guanaja and Faraway Cayes will not refund payments in the event of a hurricane or poor weather. If your flights are late and connections are missed, Fly Fish Guanaja is not responsible for alternative travel arrangements including flights, hotels, meals and any other expenses incurred. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages.

Payment Terms for All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings  
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
