Spring Creeks Fishing Report 9/10/2021

Date: 09/10/2021

Current Conditions

Small hoppers, ants, and beetles are a good bet this time of year just make sure you got some light tippet and a long leader on as these fish will be spooky. PMD's are all but gone, but you might run into fish-eating midges on calmers days, and that is always a good challange. If you do end up nymphing make sure you use flies with little to no weight in order to get a nice light presentation with your long leader. Unweighted pheasant tails, zebra midges, and caddis pupas should get it done.

Montana spring creeks are home to some of the most coveted wild trout waters found anywhere in the world. These small streams are spring-fed bodies of water characterized by consistent year-round water temperatures and stream flows. These stable environments provide exceptional habitat for many insect types along with the trout that feed on them. Generally speaking, there is dry fly fishing to be found just about any day of the year on the regional spring creeks.
