The majority of our guided Montana fly fishing trips are full-day excursions to one of the many area rivers or streams within an hours’ drive of our Bozeman fly shop. A full day fly fishing trip typically consists of 6-8 hours of “river time” on one of our local waters like the Yellowstone, Madison, Jefferson, or Gallatin. Additionally, there are several small streams, spring creeks, and stillwater options in the region that our Montana fly fishing gudies can show you as well. The best part about a guided Montana fly fishing trip is that we simply have more high-quality, wild trout waters within an hour drive than anywhere else in the west. It really takes a full day to experience a taste of what Southwest Montana has to offer, whether you are a novice fly fisher or expert angler. Fins & Feathers' professional Montana fly fishing guides fish all around Southwest Montana and typically choose the destination for the day based on weather, water condtions, and our guest's expectations for the day.
Our Bozeman, Montana fly fishing guides typically use drift boats to float the big rivers and wade-fishing the smaller waters. Floating is by far the most effective and enjoyable way to fish most of the waters in Southwest Montana. Wade fishing trips are usually focused on small streams and spring creeks and require anglers to be in good to excellent physical condition. After 15 years of guiding fly-fishers across Montana, we’ve found that nothing tells the story of Montana fly fishing quite like a float trip to the Madison, Yellowstone, Missouri, Jefferson, or Gallatin rivers.
Advanced reservations for our full day Montana fly fishing trips are recommended as our guides are often booked months in advance for June-September. We provide everything you need for the day on the water (except fishing licenses), including rods, reels, waders, boots, flies, non-alcoholic beverages, and a streamside lunch. Email or call our Bozeman fly shop at 1-877-790-5303 to check on availability or to make a reservation.
