Recommended Gear



To help you get the most out of your trip to Bozeman, here is a list of recommened gear. This is by no means and complete list, but covers most of the bases. Just keep in mind that the Bozeman area resides in a mountainous environment and even hot day can start out a little chilly. Fly Rod:
8’6” or 9’ medium to fast action 5 or 6 wt rod 
Fly Reel:
Adjustable drag reel with 75-100 yds of backing
Fly Line:
Weight Forward Floating Line matched to your rod
Waders:
Breathable Stockingfoot or Bootfoot
Wading Boots:
Felt or Rubber soles (No Studs); Sandals of water shoes for warm weather
Flies:
General trout assortment; Our guides also carry plenty of flies
Polarized Glasses:
Amber, Copper, or Brown lenses; Sunglass retainers and cleaning cloth
Hat: 
Ideally a brimmed hat for sun protection
Lightweight Longsleeve shirts:
Nylon, cotton, or a blend of the two fabrics
Lightweight pants:
Quick drying nylon is best, zip-offs are great for warm days
Fleece:
Medium to lightweight tops and bottoms for layering
Raingear:
Breathable/packable coat
Jacket:
Warm outerwear jacket with full sleeves
Gloves:
Sun gloves in the summer, fingerless fleece gloves in cold weather
Skin Protection:
Sunscreen, Lip Balm, Insect Repellent
Camera:
Point-and-shoots work well, water proof cameras are always safe
Basic Medicines:
(ibuprofen, neosporin, benadryl, antacid)
Others:
Backpack or small duffle for boat
Neoprene wading socks for warm weather wading
Snacks for the boat
