Yellowstone River Fishing Report August 9, 2018

Yellowstone River Report 8/9/2018

Aug, 09 2018

The Yellowstone is clear again and fishing well. The hopper bite is turning on. Smaller sizes in tan, yellow and pink have been working best. Try trailing a Purple Haze, Royal Wulff or beadhead nymph behind a hopper or Chubby Chernobyl. If the trout are holding deep, nymph them out with a Pat's Rubberlegs, Prince Nymph, Lightning Bug or Pheasant Tail. If you're seeing consistent risers, try a PMD or Caddis pattern. Tricos have started to show up in the slicks. Streamer fishing has been pretty good, especially during times of inclement weather. White and tan worked best on Sunday, but color preferences of the fish seem to change daily.
