Yellowstone River Report 3/05/2018

Mar, 05 2018

The Yellowstone is starting to warm up and thaw out again. The upper section around Gardner an Corwin Springs will still be the most productive for another couple of weeks probably. The usual winter flies will still the best choice. Using a combination including a Stonefly Nymph, San Juan Worm, Midge Pupa or Attractor Nymphs like a Prince or Copper John will work well. If you want to stay in the Valley the shelf ice will still be an issue in places and we haven't heard of any boat ramps ready for use yet. The Spring Creeks are still on Winter Rates so they remain a great option in the Valley. Baetis are starting to hatch on the Spring Creeks.

Fins & Feathers is a full-service Bozeman fly shop and Montana fly fishing outfitter. Yellowstone River fly fishing trips are available year-round with our Bozeman fly fishing guides.
