Upper Madison Fishing Report 8/7/2017

Aug, 07 2017

The fishing on the Upper Madison has remained decent. The cool nights are helping the water temps stay down. Most reports consist of some larger fish being caught in the mornings and a ton of smaller fish in the afternoons. The Hopper and Chubby bite has been fairly consistent. Pink or Tan have been the preferred colors most days. In addition to the Hopper game, Flying Ant season is getting started. Black, black/red or cinnamon have all been working. Some sections are still seeing some PMD's in the morning until 10 or so depending on the cloud cover. There are still plenty of Spruce Moths around the upper stretches as well. They seem to be productive until late morning/ early afternoon. Nymphing has been solid with a Zonker or Bugger, trailed by a small Mayfly Nymph or Caddis Pupa.

Fins & Feathers is a full service fly-shop that offers many different guided fishing trip option on many of the local rivers including the Upper Madison.
