Upper Madison Fishing Report 8/29/2017

Aug, 29 2017

With water temps staying below 68F the fish seem to be getting a little more active and feeding near the bank a little longer in the day. The Hopper fishing has been good to great on some days and just ok on others.  Flying Ants have been super important at various times of the day too. Black, Cinnamon, or Black and Red have all been working well at times. Mid afternoon has been productive fishing the bigger white water with small Streamers or Buggers trailed by a size 12 or 14 Pheasant Tail, Copper John or similar type nymph. In the evenings put on a tan caddis and you should be able to find some rising fish. There has not been a ton of pressure lately so the Upper has been a good option.

Fins & Feathers is a full service fly-shop that offers many different guided fishing trip option on many of the local rivers including the Upper Madison.
