Upper Madison Fishing Report 6/20/2018

Jun, 20 2018

The Upper Madison is and has been on the rise for the last five days now. Flows out of the Hebgen Dam have been increased and the rain keeps coming.  The flows are now at 3,580 cfs at Cameron.  Reports have been good from the Slide to the West Fork. Fishing yesterday around Varney was good as well.  The nymph rig was still the best option. Rubberlegs, caddis pupas, PMD nymphs and worms all got it done.  The streamer fishing turned on as well with dark flashy patterns.  If you want to fish dries there have been several species of Caddis hatching, some Midges, and BWO's on the rainy days. PMD's and Yellow Sallies have been showing up as well. Still no reports of the Salmon fly, but they should be showing up soon.

Fins & Feathers is a full-service Bozeman fly shop and Montana fly fishing outfitter. Upper Madison River fly fishing trips are available year-round with our Bozeman fly fishing guides.
