Upper Madison Fishing Report 6/11/2017

Jun, 11 2017

The Upper Madison is on the drop. It is currently at 2210cfs at Cameron. We havent had much for reports from up that way but I bet by tomorrow or Tuesday it will be fishing well. Nymphing stoneflies followed by a Caddis pupa or a Pheasant Tail should get the job done.  Streamer fishing should be decent as the flows drop as well. There may be some Caddis hatching in the mornings and evenings depending on the weather.

The fish were eating the olive streamer pretty well. As far as the nymphing goes all they were interested in for me was the worm and a beatis nymph. A good amount of Caddis were out but they had no interest in the four or five different Caddis nymphs I tried. We did pick up a few on the Caddis dry, size 16 in black.  Staying a foot or so from the bank or rocks seems to be as important as fly selection.

Fins & Feathers is a full service fly-shop that offers many different guided fishing trip option on many of the local rivers including the Upper Madison.
