Upper Madison Fishing Report 5/23/2018

May, 23 2018

The West Fork started dumping again last night and should only get worse as warmer temps and fresh rain and wet snow boost flows. Also, Northwester Energy is planning to “flush” the Madison of sediment this week to coincide with peak runoff in the Madison drainage. This means that they will be letting more water out of Hebgen Dam in relatively small increments. If they stick to the plan flows should peak around the 26th of May. Look for water clarity to suffer, even in the wade section, which has stayed relative clear. This will only be temporary and should hopefully signify the tipping point of runoff.
