Upper Madison Fishing Report 10/26/2017

Oct, 26 2017

The Upper Madison has been tricky the last week.  Reports have been minimal and on the slow side. The winds have been ripping and the sun has been high in the sky which makes for some tough conditions. There have been decent Baetis and Midge hatches bringing some fish to the surface some afternoons around Reynolds Pass and $3 Bridge areas. There have been a few October Caddis and Green Drakes spotted here and there but not on a regular basis.  Nymphing has stayed decent when there is no hatch happening. Pheasant tails, worms, eggs and Baetis Nymphs have been getting the most positive reviews. Streamer fishing has been extrememly spotty, working best when the fish are moving around mid day for the beatis hatches. Fishing small, less obvious spots with a variety of Sculpin patterns should produce one of the larger fish of your day. White has continued to be the go to.

Fins & Feathers is a full service fly-shop that offers many different guided fishing trip option on many of the local rivers including the Upper Madison.
