Missouri River Fishing Report 5/18/2017

May, 18 2017

The Missouri River is still one of the better choices for a long day or a weekend. The fishing has been hard to beat anywhere else in the area. It's been cold enough to slow the Caddis down a little but they will certainly pick back up when it warms in a couple of days. Most of the Caddis activity has been limited to the Canyon and downstream. Baetis and Midges are still the most productive hatches above the Dearborn. The most consistent fishing most of the days has been with a variety of sizes and colors of Sow Bugs, Wire Worms, Baetis Nymphs, Midge Pupas and some Caddis Pupa on the lower river. The dry fly fishing has picked up with the cooler weather. Fish have been looking up for some Baetis Emergers and Cripples along with a few Midge Adults and Clusters. The Streamer fishing should have picked up some as well.
