Lower Madison Fishing Report 9/13/2018

Sep, 13 2018

Flows on the Lower Madison are at 1,330 cfs and very steady water temperatures have still been good. Weather will be nice with high temperatures down around 70 degrees and partly couldy the next few days.  Beetles, ants, and attractor dries will still be important on the warmer days and BWO's will fill in on the bad weather days and early on in the day especially when it is overcast. Expect the baetis fishing to be goos the next few days. If the fish aren't willing to rise, light nymph rigs including crawdads, sculpins and baetis nymphs should work fine fished at about 4 feet from the indicator. This rain will have moved a few worms into the water so a San Juan should be very effective. We are probably still a ways away from the whitefish and brown trout spawn but a handfull of fish will start feeling spunky pretty soon. Overall the lower has been picking up and expect it to only get better from here with this upcoming cooler weather.
