Lower Madison Fishing Report 9/11/2017

Sep, 11 2017

The Lower Madison from Ennis Dam to the headwaters has been placed on Hoot Owl Closure due to warm afternoon water temperatures. This means that the river is closed to fishing between 2:00 pm and midnight.

The fishing on the "Lower" has been on or off the last few days. One day you will have a great day out there and the next its tough.  There has still been a pretty good Hopper bite at times as well as some Flying Ants and attractor dries like the Purple Haze, Royal Wullf or a 409. A Crawdad or small Sculpin trailed by a Micro Mayfly or SH Hares Ear has been the best option for numbers.  The best fishing has still been around Beartrap durring the first few hrs of light. Havent heard much on the streamer fishing but I'm sure it will start to get good as temps start to drop later in the week.
