Lower Madison Fishing Report 2/12/2018

Feb, 12 2018

The recent cold snap has put a slight damper on the fishing. There had been many fish on the flats and tailouts gobbling midges, but the cold has slowed the hatch activity and fish have responded to the cold by retreating back to the buckets. We haven’t had any reports of bad ice or slush, but after last night (Feb 11th) you should expect some. Fishing should get better starting tomorrow, along with the weather. It’s not going to be as pleasant as the last week and a half has been, but highs in the mid to high 30’s should see midge and fish activity increase.

Fins & Feathers is a full-service Bozeman fly shop and Montana fly fishing outfitter. Lower Madison River fly fishing trips are available year-round with our Bozeman fly fishing guides.
