Learn the basics of casting and setting up your gear during these FREE, two-hour fly fishing classes throughout the year. Fly fishing can be intimidating and overwhelming when you first start, so we came up with this itinerary simple solution to get the beginner or novice fly fisher started on the right track. In addition to the instruction, participants in our fly fishing classes receive a gift certificate good for purchases at Fins & Feathers along with a one year membership to Trout Unlimited ($35 value). There is no place better than Bozeman to call home for the fly angler and Fins & Feathers' introductory fly-fishing 101 courses are a great way to get started!
Fly Fishing 101 is free and space is limited to 10 participants per session; so reservations are required. Please stop by our Bozeman fly shop or send us an e-mail to register. The 101 Class has become very popular and is, honestly, one of the most enjoybale activities that we host throughout the year. If you sign up for one of these free classes, please plan on showing up as space is limited and we often have to turn people away. Mobile Fly Fishing 101 Classes are now available as well, thanks to our Flyfishtruck! These classes can be scheduled by emailing us to inquire about availability. Minimum group size is 10 people and we can handle larger groups of up to 40 people with advanced planning! Private Fly-Fishing 101 courses range in price from free to a minimal charge per person which is dependent on factors such as location, time, and number of participants. Our Mini Fly Fishing 101 is a free, short, 30 minute class that focuses primarily on the basics of casting and rigging a fly rod. These mini classes are very quick and enjoyable but a great place to start if you have never cast a fly rod or are looking to improve your casting. Many different rods are available to cast at these classes if you are interested in getting a feel for the numerous different fly rod manufacturers. These classes are open to everyone and do not require any registration, so just show up!
