For the fishermen who choose to social distance by "Casting Through the Chaos", we've got you covered. With the difficulties, distancing, and distress around us, nothing sounds better than getting our waders in the water and casting some of those cares away. If you love the outdoors and fly-fishing is your gateway to R&R, then Bozeman, Montana is the perfect place to stay hunkered down during this pandemic.
At Fins and Feathers, we know fishing is on the minds of many Bozeman area anglers, and we want to make getting the fly fishing necessities as easy as possible. With all the changes going on around us - what hasn't changed is that fly-fishing is still our main passion and love these days. Our Bozeman fly shop is still able to provide anything and everything for the fly-fishing angler whether you come to see us in our Bozeman Fly Shop or shop online.
The fly shop is now open 8:30 AM-5:30 PM M-Sat ; 8:30-3:00 on Sundays

To stay up to date with our rapidly changing operations plan, follow us on these social outlets.
Note that some of our services like rental gear, repair service, and spooling up of reels/lines purchased elsewhere are currently unavailable or require advanced planning. Things like processing returns, refunds, and even returning phone calls just take longer right now as we work with a leaner staff than normal. Somedays we have staff answering phones remotely, so it might take us a bit longer to get back to you with questions related to product inventory (you can always look online - if you don't see it, we most likely don't carry it or are temporarily out of stock). There are days when we simply don't have time to answer the phones at all, but we always see emails come through - EMAIL US for the best service and most efficient responses.
Dates have been scheduled for both Fly Fishing 101 and Foundations of Fly Fishing Courses from our Bozeman fly shop....

Always a great fall/winter fishery, expect the typical crayfish and small nymph combo to be the go-to rig while nymphing the Beartrap Canyon. Cloudy days can bring prolific BWO hatches when the weather permits as well.

The “art” of tying flies seems more like “back-alley dark magic” to the untrained eye, but actually is much more attainable than one would expect. The fundamentals and techniques that are used to create any fly are all built upon the basics. Our introductory classes have been carefully refined over the last 20 years to deliver efficient instruction in an easy-going and concise format. Private options are available for small groups of up to 5 participants and can be reserved separately if our standard sessions are full by emailing our Outreach Director for availability and details.
Centrally located in Bozeman, the Fins & Feathers trout schools are an ideal choice for a western fly-fishing education experience. Fins & Feathers has been teaching people how to fly-fish in Bozeman for 20 years and we are excited to offer this option as the most complete 2-Day Fly Fishing School in Montana.
