Store Services

Note that some of our services like rental gear, repair service, and spooling up of reels/lines purchased elsewhere are currently unavailable or require advanced planning. Things like processing returns, refunds, and even returning phone calls just take longer right now as we work with a leaner staff than normal. Somedays we have staff answering phones remotely, so it might take us a bit longer to get back to you with questions related to product inventory (you can always look online - if you don't see it, we most likely don't carry it or are temporarily out of stock). There are days when we simply don't have time to answer the phones at all, but we always see emails come through - EMAIL US for the best service and most efficient responses.

Gallatin River Fly Fishing Guide Trip 7692

Gallatin River

The Gallatin is a great choice this time of year for the wading angler looking to get out for a few hours while sticking close to home. Expect nymphing to be the most effective method right now with some rising fish to be found on cloudy days.

Yellowstone river guide trips

Yellowstone River

Fall fishing on the Yellowstone River is ripe for ripping streamers across the shallow banks and dredging long, deep runs in search of the buttery browns we all love to see.

Lower Madison

Lower Madison

Always a great fall/winter fishery, expect the typical crayfish and small nymph combo to be the go-to rig while nymphing the Beartrap Canyon. Cloudy days can bring prolific BWO hatches when the weather permits as well.

We provide updated fishing reports on these and several more regional rivers in our Fishing Reports section. Typical reports offer current information in addition to streamflow graphs, recommended flies, river maps, and links to webcams (if available).

Classes & Clinics

Fly Tying Classes

The “art” of tying flies seems more like “back-alley dark magic” to the untrained eye, but actually is much more attainable than one would expect. The fundamentals and techniques that are used to create any fly are all built upon the basics. Our introductory classes have been carefully refined over the last 20 years to deliver efficient instruction in an easy-going and concise format. Private options are available for small groups of up to 5 participants and can be reserved separately if our standard sessions are full by emailing our Outreach Director for availability and details.

Western Trout School

Centrally located in Bozeman, the Fins & Feathers trout schools are an ideal choice for a western fly-fishing education experience. The Western Trout School program is a two-day course focused on the fundamentals of the sport, combining both classroom and on-the-water sessions. Fins & Feathers has been teaching people how to fly-fish in Bozeman for 20 years and we are excited to offer this option as the most complete 2-Day Fly Fishing School in Montana.
