Yellow Dog Expanding Operations to Include Full Retail Offerings
Date: 11/08/2022
As a customer and client of Fins & Feathers, we wanted to reach out to let you know of some exciting changes that have taken place with the fly shop. Effective November 1, Yellow Dog has purchased the shop, and the business will be re-branded as “Yellow Dog Flyfishing” moving forward. We wanted to share some insider information on what you can expect with the shop location and business moving forward.
- First and foremost, the shop will continue to focus on the local community and the longtime, loyal customer base. The Four Corners location has not changed, and the same friendly faces that you have come to know over the years will still be there. The colors of the building, the signs, and the name have changed, but the shop will continue in its role as Bozeman’s most complete, full-service fly shop.
- Yellow Dog is certainly not new to the game or new to the area. As a worldwide booking company, our business offers fishing trips and angling adventures worldwide–including freshwater and saltwater. That said, the company was born-and-bred here in Bozeman 23 years ago, and most of our staff are lifelong area residents.
- In the days ahead, the digital channels and social media accounts from Fins & Feathers will be rebranded, and you’ll slowly begin receiving emails and posts from Yellow Dog Flyfishing. This will include regional fishing reports, local news, product announcements, information about winter season classes and more.
- In the spring of 2023, Yellow Dog will launch a newly designed website and e-commerce platform for the shop, and we are excited to release what we believe will be the most comprehensive site in the industry! Stay tuned for more information, and we will of course let you know about the official launch date.
- Having been in business for more than two decades, the shop already has the broadest selection of product lines and top-tier brands found anywhere, and this will continue for the future. With Bozeman's largest and most complete offering of flies, fly rods, reels, fly lines, waders, wading boots, and fly tying supplies, current product lines include Simms, Sage, Scott, Skwala, Hardy, Orvis, Patagonia, Scientific Anglers, Rio, Costa, Umpqua, Hatch, Ross, G. Loomis, Waterworks-Lamson, Fishpond, Abel, Thomas & Thomas, Smith, Korkers, Bajio, and many others. New product lines that will soon arrive in the shop include Winston Rods, Tibor, Grundens, and Mako Reels.
- As for the future of the shop’s guide and outfitting services, we have no desire to add more commercial boats onto area rivers! We will be referring future guide business and area booking inquiries to a number of existing Montana outfitters and guides we have known, worked with, and supported for years. The shop’s previous owner, Toby Swank, will maintain his outfitting license and will operate “Fins and Feathers Guide Service” as a separate, independent entity.
We wanted you to be among the first to know about these exciting changes and additions, and we hope you’ll stop by to see some of the facility improvements in the weeks and months ahead. You can also always call the fly shop at 406-586-2188 for any retail or equipment needs, and our team will be available to assist at any time. From a hand-picked fly selection to a new pair of waders, to holiday gifts for anglers – we’ve got you covered! It is also worth mentioning that during the month of November, we have a lot of product on sale at 50% off, including all Fins & Feathers logo-ed shirt, hats, packs, fly boxes and outwear. We hope you’ll stop into the shop and see us soon.
Rest assured that the authentic Montana service and professionalism that the fly shop has been known for over the past 20-plus years will continue, and moving forward, you can expect the same great service and attention to detail. We’ll also maintain the area’s largest inventory of the finest products in fly fishing, and we’re committed to taking great care of both local anglers and those that are visiting the area.
Thank you for your continued support of the fly shop, and please reach out with anything.
Sincerely,

Jim Klug and Ian Davis
Co-owners of Yellow Dog Flyfishing
