Applications of the Non-Slip Loop Knot

The non-slip mono loop is very well known for being the go to knot for streamer fishing. This knot is the least restrictive knot on your fly and allows your bug to move more freely than a cinch or improved cinch knot while fishing. What most folks don’t know is that this knot can be great for fishing dry flies as well. When using on tippets anywhere from 0x-6x the results can be outstanding, often resulting in significantly more eats when fishing small dry flies. Utilizing the loop causes hoppers and ants to look more natural on the water and when used for small technical dry fly situations it can be the difference between getting the eat and not. A non-slip loop combined with a natural presentation and dead drift can be deadly when fishing any of the Bozeman rivers.
